3:15 pm - Jumping On The Book Bandwagon
|
A book that made you cry: The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst . Lots of books make me cry, though, so I just picked the most recent one.
A book that scared you: The Shipping News by E Annie Proulx, not because the book itself is scary, but that it was the first gift Steve gave me, let's just say it wasn't what I would have expected to get 2 months into dating someone
A book that made you laugh: The Idiot Girls Action-Adventure Club by Laurie Notaro,
A book in High School that you loved: East of Eden by John Steinbeck, it's the only Steinbeck I like.
A book in High School that you hated: Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
A book that challenged your imagination: The Amber Spyglass by Phillip Pullman
A book that challenged your morals: Nickled and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich
A book that challenged your identity: I want to say Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells, but I don't know that it challenged my identity, I just kept repeating the phrase "hey, that's like my mom" over and over and over again...
A book series that you love: Harry Potter by JK Rowling, His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman
Your favorite Horror Novel: I really don't read horror...
Your favorite Science Fiction Novel: The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Your favorite Fantasy Novel: I'll go with The Lord of the Rings
Your favorite Romance Novel: The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, so good, it also made me cry
Your favorite "Coming-of-Age" Novel: Are You There God, It's Me Margaret by Judy Blume
Favorite Book of Poems: Let Evening Come by Jane Kenyon, I also like Wendell Barry
Your favorite book not listed previously: Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austin
Book that made a strong impression on you, whether favorable or not: The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides, there are many others I just can't think of any right now....
Oh, and does anyone else wonder why "your favorite book as a child" or similar wasn't listed, or was that just me?
